Ever Find the Tango scene by Al Pacino in the movie, Scent of a Woman? You got to admit it was pretty classy. The elegance and coordination were something to admired. There was this hype over the Tango at the 90’s that I never really got to try until 2004. Even then it was several courses of Latin dancing. I had fun with it and hoped that it’d increase my footwork. I must admit, I loosened up quite a little while and my own training seemed to flow much better. As a guy, I had been interested in meeting women at dances. As a fitness center and health writer, I had been curious about the effects which dance had on the human body and mind.

The frequent reason for dance would be have fun and burn up calories. (Oh yeah and laugh and fulfill up with the other gender.) However, something as sophisticated as the Tango influences the human body in different ways than simply another exercise.

Psychology Professors Cynthia Ouiroga Murcia Phd and Stephan Bongard from the Goethe University Frankfurt and Musicology professor Gunter Kreutz from the Carl von Ossietzky University conducted a research on the Results of tango dancing on the dancer’s stress hormonal degrees. They did this by regularly testing the testosterone and cortisol levels of the dancer’s saliva.

As you might know, cortisol is supposed to guard the body against inflammation, but often causes high blood pressure and weight reduction.

What the researchers discovered was that:

1. Exotic hearing music, tended to raise testosterone in both women and reduced testosterone levels in men. However, active tango dancing did not effect the testosterone levels within either dancer.

2. The tango dance is actually a moderate task at roughly 55% workforce capability for most people, so even though they weren’t burning as many calories as a faster dancing, they’re also not therefore they really do not really hit the high-stress, cortisol-producing phase.

Now it becomes very interesting. Normal dance with music and partner raised the cortisol levels in both the female and male dancers. Dancing alone or without music has been somewhat less beneficial than dancing with a partner and with the music genre. You never look as mad if you are dancing with yourself without music.)

Thus, you are able to have fun and stay healthy without always needing to work your self into a perspiration.
